Stephen earned his Master’s Degree from Lenior Rhyne University. He is licensed in both professional counseling and addictions. He combines 5-years experience with substance abuse counseling with 2-years experience collaborating with people confronted by childhood trauma, anxiety, depression and other diagnoses.
He specializes in interpersonal communication skills, (parent/child employee/employer spouse/partner). He is fluent in Spanish, and effective in cross cultural communication.
Stephen feels passionately about empowering clients to let go of their burdens to create new freedom. Whether it's dealing with the shame of substance abuse issues, fear surrounding sexual identity concerns, underlying dread from childhood traumas, or ongoing guilt of ""forgotten crimes"” from the past. He believes in offering a safe space to work together to create a new story that gives you authenticity, community, and possibility.
He has a special interest in collaborating with doctors to provide psycho educational modules to prevent opioid use disorder and in assisting doctors who provide opioid maintenance therapy. He is committed to transforming the opioid epidemic in North Carolina by creating a new paradigm that celebrates freedom from drugs.
In his free-time Stephen enjoys reading and writing. He also enjoys traveling as much as he can and photographing the beautiful sites.
