A Habit Worth Keeping
This morning my phone rang. I hadn’t heard from her in a few days. We talk regularly so the call wasn’t a surprise, but the glow that nearly blinded me on the other end was. Have you ever felt someone’s mood on the phone? You can always tell if they’re having a great day or one that totally sucks. Well this day, the grin that overtook her face was grabbing me through the phone, so when I said “Hello”’, all I got was “Ha, hey, yeah – I did that!” Energy is infectious so I replied with a big grin, “What, did what girl?” I knew it had been a successful trip from the “Ha, hey” part, but I wanted to hear her say it. She said she just acquired multiple new clients and added millions to her management portfolio, and it was easy like Sunday morning.
I was sooo proud of her for finally sending the cease and decease notice to stop resisting breaking old bad habits that stifled growth.
She’s had a habit of continuing to focus on clients who were no longer in her target market. And we’d discussed this many times, but there had been such a pull to continue engaging potentials who didn’t meet her new requirements. Old habits and programming would keep pulling her back to familiar actions. It made sense though because the old clientele was comfortable territory for her. She had settled in, unwilling to forge ahead in new land, but she finally turned the corner.
Ever felt like that? Stuck in revenue, stuck in life…just plain stuck. I can promise you it’s because of a habit you’ve been resisting or unwilling to break. And you’re not alone—it’s easier to stay where you are than to forge ahead to create what you want. New habits breed new life, new experiences and—for businesspeople—new results.
So for 2020, it’s out with the old, in with the new. It’s a new day, a new dawn, a new decade…and NEW HABITS. New habits are just what you need for a 2020 vision in your business and your life. Why not create habits worth keeping? You’ll always get exactly what you’ve been wanting!
